Mellow Yellow

At Less is more Week 69 We have a very simple recipe this week and that is simply to make a card which is
NOT A SQUARE
nor a rectangle for that matter.
For once I am not uploading at the 11th hour!  This card was a total accident, I have been trying to get the E-craft working i.e. not chewing up my cardstock and paper! I can never remember the pressure for each paper and although it is supposed to be 'matless' some kind of mat IS needed, I found a cropper hopper plastic 12x12 divider. I hardly use the e-craft as it takes so long to get a good cut. Don't even get me started on the crappy software it comes with, lucky I have SCAL!

Anyway enough of a ramble, I was using this svg file 'Hibiscus stencil card' (I cannot remember where it came from, there is no TOU and no name on the file.  If anyone knows please let me know and I'll add a link.)  I was using cardstock in colours I never normally use to test the machine.  This was the 4th attempt..... the sentiment is SU.  I used stick and spray to attach the red front to the yellow but then realised that the yellow cut outs were sticky ...Doh!  so I had a brain wave and poured crystal glitter over the card and volia! a shaped card !!!

Edit: the file was from here

Baby

51 mins to go! SU baby tees stamp taken off its wheel, odd bits of cardstock embossed and punched , promarkers, seam binding (it is rose pink but looks odd on the scan)  I had to scan the card as my battery was dead :-(.
Lots of white space, I think the longer I spend on a card the less white space there is! I have been planting tomato plants today, it was sunny for a change!

LIM week 66 yellow

This week at Less is More This week we are back to a colour challenge and the chosen colour this time is

Y E L L O W

Other colours may be in evidence as long as the main focus colour is yellow.

Yesterday a box arrived with a Sew Easy, and some punches, 2 for stamens.I had been playing with the SU mixed bunch punch off and on all week and liked the embossed look on the flower.   I made the card from  kraft card  from my stash, so this week Chrissie and Mandi my 'white space' is kraft!

It has been abusy week here, Ella had her first 'toiletage'... I nearly cried when I saw how short her hair is now .  She absolutly hates being brushed but her long hair really needed to be shorter for the summer. at least now I can brush her without a fight, hopefully by the time it all grows back for the winter she will be more co-operative!  She likes to dig and roll and it was a nightmare keeping her hair from getting all matted up.

Before..
So much hair going..

Ella is unimpressed with her first bath....
After blowdrying..

After.. I wonder what Toby thinks of my new hair do????

LIM week 65

It has been a busy old week. 3 seasons in one day, this morning it was sunny and 18c, lunch time it clouded over and just now we had a hail storm with 1-2cm stones!
this card is for my nephew Ollie's 3rd birthday.  I used the SU cupcake punch with craftworks card blank and scraps from my stash.  If you look really carefully you will see a tiny shrink plastic charm with a SU punch pals (I think?) stamped with stazon and shrunk.  I did this last week for LIM 'charms' but didn't manage to get the card uploaded in time so i used it one this one.
This is Stumpy 'helping' me to tidy up my desk........

Green......again! #2

Another 11th hour card forLess is More #62 - three shades of green My white space on this card is green!
I have been on a bit of a paper flower fix this week, I was trying to made a hellebore/christmas rose like the ones in my garden..........
(this one is a bit dead after a day on my desk!)  my three greens are: Artichoke chaud, old olive on the Paisley petals DSP border punch and dark green leaves from wild orchid under the flower.  The petals on the flower are from the fab build a blossom SU punch, yellow liquid pearls in the center and tiny beads.  I swiped the petals with ink and drew the lines with sakura gelly and stardust pens.

LIM 55

EDIT:  Thank you all for visiting and commenting, I have had a complication with my eye surgery, we had to go back to the hospital yesterday, there is a bit of  stitch sticking out of my eye and making my eye really incredibily itchy, sore and weepy.  so |I can't see very well to type & read blogs :-(

This week at Less is Moore #55-theme - Die cuts! Hooray! Finally my e-craft got collected and I have been playing with it. The cut file is SVG Cuts butterflies and blossoms (I think) I use SCAL 3 as the software that comes with it is absolute PANTS!   I have used masses of cardstock working my way through turorials but once you get used to the differences between it and the cricut it gets easier. No more mats! the cut is quite clean too. Cardstock, bow and bling from stash. Craftworks cardblank. SU punches and LOTV part sentiment. I also used promarkers to shade the flowers, liquid pearls in yellow in the centre, smudged them (can't see very well close up at the moment) so stuck on black gems. It must be a record for me uploading a card on Saturday... Mr D was at the Rugby though :-) he is currently in the attic looking at our water pipes that have more holes than a colander at the moment after the big freeze.  Looks like we are going to have to re-plum half the house so I will be on a stash diet for a while........ :-(

It is Less is More week 54 One Layer card - with stripes!
I was a bit stumped by the stripes but my Little Claire stamp of the month arrived today and even though my near vision is still a bit hazy after the op on Wednesday I was itching to enter LIM this week as I do try to enter every week.  So I tried flowery 'stripes' with a Friskars stamp, but it didn't look stripy enough, so I paper pieced the flower pots on the basis that my colouring-in was suffering a bit from my near vision being all over the place. There is glossy accents on the pots, I was going for a ceramic look!! I added some stripy ribbon from stash threaded into holes slit in the card base at each side of the sentiment.  I used Promarkers with the fine tips to colour the rest of the stamp.  The trowel is metalic silver promarker.
There is something not quite balanced in the placement, things are floating and not grounded but its too late to change it now LOL
Tonight is the last night I have to wear a 'pirate' patch on my left eye, it is really amazing how good my distance vision is all-ready, really odd to wake up in the morning and be able to see my alarm clock!
Thanks for the kind wishes of my little band of followers and frineds in blogland :-)

Magnum

This is my 3rd card for Less is More #53 colour-aqua my lovely new Magnum 1/2 price stamps arrived this week, shame the same could not be said for my Ecraft which is stuck at some La Poste near the armpit of beyond and will probably end up going back because the Lazy ******* courier could not be bothered to actually deliver it! As I'll be busy getting my eyes cut open next week I can't go and get it. This is the last time I bother trying to buy crafting goodies in France, except from Alison's SU :-)

I masked off the main stamp with post-its so I could have more palm trees and Aqua sea!, coloured with Promarkers. the sentiment is computer generated. There is lots of white space on this one!  I used my lovely new SU border punch. I could not resist adding the dead fish from the 'add on' set. I did the embossing on my long neglected Crafters Companion Pro, it looks a bit wonky on the pic.

Purple

As my other half is away this week I get more time to play in my craft room.  I'm still half way through a major re-organisation EDIT and hoping to keep it a bit more tidy in 2012! (some hope :-) giben up now and hidden it all in a cupboard.

So this week at Less is More we are on week #49, Predominantly Purple
I love purple so had a good old hunt through my scraps box.  I found this lovely handmade paper and used my new Triple Treat flower stamp embossed with WOW grape, sentiment and punches from my mega Stampin' Up Christmas order. the sentiment is actually straight but looks odd as I tried to straighten the photo. I always have photo problems as my craft room window is below the roof overhang over the terrace so I don't get much direct light.
: Lady Bugs - New Stash (SU stamps & punches)
Clean & simple - Sketch  FTL172 Teriffic sketch this week
One stop craft challenge - Bingo  (Heat Embossing, punches, flowers)

First card of 2012!

As usual I am uploading to Less is moore # 47 at the 11th hour even though this challenge has run for 2 weeks...Well I always did my homework on the bus :-)
This week Chrissie and Mandi want us to make a card with:

JUST ONE WORD
( the sentiment must consist of simply one word)
I have had a lovely time in between house training the puppy in 60km wind/gales/driving rain, getting her first lots of vaccinations , chipping and  passport at the new vets and spending half a day at the eye hospital , playing with lots of lovely Stampin Up goodies I forced asked my family to get me for christmas!  I even got the free Paisley print papers and stamp set as it was my turn to 'hostess' for the lovely Alison's super 6. The downside of all the new stash is that I have had to tidy up the Messy Desk and its room... 2 bin bags so far!
Ella the puppy

I used the colours from Pals paper arts #126 Baja Breeze, Not quite Navy & Very Vanilla I havn't entered this challenge before.

One layer snowflakes

T his week it is One layer cards again at Less is More - Let it Snow! .  I have to say that this card was harder to photograph than to make!  I used: Silver cardstock folded with white reverse side out. Memory box border die then cut out the rest of the front.  Sprayed with Crafters Companion irredecent flitter spray, bling from stash, one embossed sentiment on holographic mirror board sanded to show the words (found in stash)  I did think about putting a sheet of acitate behind the card front but didn't think the card would then count as one layer? Anyway I'm really pleased with how it turned out, for one the card on my desk looks like the one in my head! LOL
I would also like to enter: ABCChristmas Challenge Y is for yipeee

This weeks 44 challenge at  Less is More is GREEN ... which, after red is not exactly my favourite colour either! Anyway I had a bit of a disaster and enveloped up the second card before I realised I had knocked the camera and missed the edge. The image is SU in always artichoke then highlighted with sakura stardust pen you can't really see the colour or glittery effect in the picture sadly. Ribbon, DP new Craft creations  white snowy sky, alas you cannot really see it! I bought lots of 4 x 12" sheets which arrived yesterday. I used the sketch from Sweet Stop, more or less!

At Less is More this week #42 it's time for another theme which is

Silhouettes
 n. A silhouette is the image of a person, an object or scene consisting of the outline and a basically featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black.
I tried this with a black card base but although it had plenty of 'white space' which was of course actually 'black space' it just didn't look right..... sorry Chrissie & Mandi !! I will be back with another one soon.....
I used: SU image, Craft creations DP, Sakura starlite pen (absolutly LOVING this new toy), black cardstock from stash, nestie and a Gina K sentiment from a set to match nestie fancy labels.

Shoes, Handbag & Sparkle

The theme for our cards this week is
LEAVES
If you don't have any leaf stamps then there is sure to be a way that you can interpret this challenge... let's see what you can come up with!

Well I don't have any leaf stamps for a start, but I did download the lovely Christmas Diva Doodles, which has holly leaves decorating the shoes from Pink Petticoat the second it was on the web site!  If I try artistic things will ink I generally end up with something mud coloured..... So this is my 6th attempt on Craft Artist (my loyal readers will know all about my hate/love relationship with this software), I wanted to heat emboss the digi but the printer wasn't playing ball, I tried pearlised card and it was too flat and dark.  The problem I have with one layer cards is the lack of dimension...  So anyway I had a HUGE packet of A4 photo paper that I bought at Lidl for about 2 euros years ago, I've never used it as it gloss (although it said mat on the wrapper, probably why it was so cheap!) and scratches making it usless for cards. But I had a lightbulb moment and tried spraying it with Crafters Companion Spray & Sparkle iridescent varnish/glitter and voila, it worked.  The glitter does not show up very well in the picture though. I cut the A4 to about 5" x7 card after I printed with my woodware paper trimmer.  The tiny holly leaf DP is also Pink Petticoat.  I coloured the digi with my new gold pro-marker and used red Viva pearl/glitter for the berries. with hindsight I should have done the colouring BEFORE the spraying, but I was loosing the will to live so here it is! I will re-cycle the rejects into cards with mats LOL!

Red and Orange - Oh No!

Challenges: Allsorts Anything-but-square ( shaped card) Cas-ual fridays = Off the edge (tag) Ribbon Carousel - Anything goes

Less is More week 40 "Remember, remember the 5th of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot!
In the UK, it is traditionally on 'firework night' that the 'Gunpowder plot' of 1605 is commemorated. It was then that Guy Fawkes was arrested for laying explosives under the House of Lords.

The first week of the month is another Colour challenge and redolent of bonfire flames Chrissie and Mandi have chosen
Red and Orange"
....Well after Orange my least fav colour is Red!  So this week is very much a challenge for me. I hunted through my stash and found teraccotta ink, button, raffia string, some squares of various hand made mulberry paper I bought from e-bay.. I had used all the 'nice' colours so there is manily green, yellow, orange, red left. The bit I used has orange leaves and bits of conifer in the paper.  Then I hunted for something to mount it on and found some hand made paper in shades of red I bought at a sales last year.  I also had a shaped kraft cardblank I cut with the cricut. I lined the inside of the card with the red paper which has a slight distressed gold and silver look to it.  I punched a tag from kraft and stamped a SU sentiment and embossed in clear EP.  Looking at it now I'm actually quite pleased with it, I suppose it will do as a Male card :-)

Less is More week 38 #3

I love looking at the blogs of the other Limettes, often I look but don't comment as I often find typing very painfull (I have 'mouse' shoulder and elbow!) so I look on the i-pad... , try and visit a few new peeps each week.
This card is for my 'baby' daugher Lydia who is soon to be 17.. when she was tiny (she is still tiny actually thanks to the coeliac) she loved a purple velvet dress from Next that she got for her 2nd birthday.  No matter what I dressed her in, every morning she hid those clothes and came downstairs dressed in the little purple dress, purple tights, purple shoes.  Over the years she had many purple velvet dresses, tops, trousers, t-shirts. I found  the original dress the other day whilst sorting out my 'treasure box' in the attic Ahhh.
When she got to 11 she changed to khaki & black clothes but she still has a purple bedroom!
Enough of the trip down memory lane..
I would like to enter Less is more.
I used: Purple card blank from stash, white card embossed with polka dot folder, Impression Obsession stamp stamped onto purple polka dot dp from stash, I shamlessly CASED/PINCHED the idea from Anne F I emossed the Impression Obsession stamp with purple embossing powder. sentiment craftworks,
